About Me

Hi, I'm Nilay! I just graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor's in Computer Science with a concentration in AI, ML, and data science. I'm looking for a full-time software engineering position. I mainly enjoy working with C++, Python, Go, TypeScript, or React.

Work Experience

  1. Alo Yoga

    Jun 2025 — Aug 2025

    Software Engineer Intern

    Los Angeles, CA

As part of the Business Systems team, I built an automated Python testing tool that simulated manufacturing pipelines and saved 500+ developer hours annually. I created an SRE monitoring pipeline with Grafana integration, built a GitHub app to automate deployments and check database indexing, and developed a RAG-based AI chatbot trained on the company’s codebase. I also fixed a data-visibility bug affecting a manufacturing dashboard.

  2. Doron Precision Systems

    Jun 2024 — Aug 2024

    Software Engineer Intern

    Binghamton, NY

Built a custom AI traffic system in Unreal Engine 5 with C++ that allows for thousands of vehicles to navigate autonomously, avoid each other, safely merge into lanes and onto highways, and follow right of way at intersections. I also created an internal tool to help build road networks along with a custom Bézier curve implementation.

  3. Bozu

    May 2023 — Aug 2023

    Software Engineer Intern

    Remote

Built an Outlook plugin to create Bozu VOIP meetings within Outlook and synchronize them. Developed a Slack integration that let users create and manage Bozu meeting in Slack.

Projects

  1. Operating System Simulator

Created a C++ OS simulator for CPU scheduling algorithms including FCFS, SJF, SRT, and round robin with performance metrics for CPU utilization, wait times, and turnaround times

  2. Massively Parallel Flocking Simulation

Developed a massively parallel flocking simulation using CUDA and MPI to simulate real-time flocking behavior of millions of agents on RPI's AiMOS supercomputer.

  3. RPI Search Engine

Built a search engine ranking microservice with that covers all RPI domains. Integrated the service with a Redis cache and indexing, link analysis, and metrics microservices

  4. PolyCal

PolyCal is calendar app that centralizes every event on RPI's campus into one place. It is built with React and Go.

  5. Degree Doctor

Degree Doctor is a Vue app that helps students create and manage a plan for their college degree.
